Mr. Chosa, tell us a little bit about yourself...
OK, first welcome to our Team 24 website. I'm very proud to be working at Taylor Mountain School with your sons/daughters. They are making a fine team of young investigators and I'm looking forward to working with them this year.
I have lived in Santa Rosa most of my life. My family moved from the mid-west in 1964. I attended Cook Middle School and graduated from Santa Rosa High School. I received my teaching credential from Sonoma State University. I have two wonderful sons. They are both grown and work in the health care profession. I have a brand new granddaughter this year, she is very cute and precious.
I have taught in the Bellevue Union School District for 22 years. My time has been almost equally divided between teaching fifth grade and being the Bellevue district math coach. I have spent four years as the director of a federal math grant and have worked with about 120 teachers in Sonoma County and a powerful group of mathematics professionals from across the state. This will be my fourth year teaching at Taylor Mountain.
As we enter a new time in education, changing to the Common Core State Standards, I want to emphasize the change in instructional practice. Team 24 will be encouraged to not only learn new concepts in all curricular areas but to apply their new learning and make connections with what they already know. Team 24 will be encouraged to work together, thus the name, and make their learning visible.
I'm available to parents for questions or concerns. Please contact me through the school office so we can set up a meeting time. 707-542-3671
Thank you, and welcome to Team 24!
